Driving Tests

Provisional licence

If you are over 17 and have obtained your provisional driving licence then you are ready to start your on-road driving lessons. Our lessons are very competitively priced and there is a great introductory offer for new learners. If you don’t yet have your provisional licence then you can get an application form from the post office. If your application is completed correctly, your licence should be with you in about 14-21 days.

Theory Test

It is usually best to start your lessons before you take your theory test. That way you will find that the theory learning supplements and helps you in your practical lessons and vice versa. You have to pass the theory test (both parts – theory questions and hazards) to be able to apply for a practical test.

Practical Test

When you have passed the theory you can apply for the practical test. The test lasts for about 40 minutes and includes one reversing manoeuvre, possibly an emergency stop, independent driving and some general driving that will usually include some varied road situations such as residential roads and town centre roads, roundabouts, traffic lights etc. You can haver your driving instructor sit in the back of the car during your driving test if you wish.
At the end of the practical test the examiner will inform you of the result and if you have been successful will normally offer to arrange for your full licence to be sent to you. You will be entitled to drive while you wait for the full licence to arrive.
